My Dad, Robert Hollweg, founded Armada Grain Company in 1948. He bought a small grind and mix operation on Armada's northside where he focused largely on grinding corn cob and mixing feed for local farmers.

In 1962, Dad acquired another facility on the southside of Armada with access to rail and began a grain merchandising and ingredient distribution business, in addition to the grind and mix operation.  In 1966 he added a small pellet mill for pet food and specialty feeds.

Dad built a mill on the grain handling site in 1976 and subsequently closed the grind and mix facility, consolidating operations into one location.

I joined my Dad in the business in 1980, following my graduation from Kansas State University, with a degree in Feed Science.  We did a complete mill renovation and expansion in 1988, including a new pellet mill, grinder, batching system & bins. 

We installed our first extruder in 1983 to make pet food and then replaced that with a new Extru -Tech E750 extruder in 2003.

We continue today at the same mill and my Dad remains involved.
